Insulation Company in Cotati, CA
Woolsey Attic Insulation handles attic and spray foam insulation work throughout Cotati, CA. Homes here sit directly in the Petaluma Gap, a marine air corridor that pulls damp Pacific fog through town nearly every summer afternoon. That moisture shapes nearly every insulation decision we make in Cotati, from material selection to vapor barrier placement. If you’re dealing with high energy bills, cold rooms, or insulation that’s been flattened by decades of humidity cycling, call (325) 240-5411 and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts.
Why Cotati Homes Are Different
Cotati’s climate does something specific to insulation that you won’t see just eight miles north in Santa Rosa. The Petaluma Gap funnels cool, moisture-heavy marine air through the coastal range and into town with remarkable consistency, especially from May through October. Attics here stay humid for months at a time, and fiberglass batts absorb that moisture, slowly compressing under their own weight as the fibers break down. By the time we pull old batts out of a Cotati attic, they’re often flattened to half their original thickness and stained dark gray from years of fog-moisture cycling.
The housing stock compounds the problem. Most of Cotati’s residential buildout happened in the 1960s and 1970s, and those tract homes came with the insulation standards of that era. Original fiberglass batts, now 50+ years old, have degraded well past their useful life. Many homes have little to no wall-cavity insulation by modern standards. Add in the older rental housing near the historic core, where insulation rarely gets updated between tenants, and you have a city where moisture management and insulation replacement go hand in hand. Wet winters from November through April only deepen the issue, which is why vapor barriers and proper attic ventilation matter as much here as R-value itself.
Our Main Cotati Services
Cotati homeowners call us most often about two things: replacing degraded attic insulation and sealing homes with spray foam. Both services have their own dedicated Cotati pages with full pricing, process details, and FAQs.
Attic Insulation in Cotati
Most Cotati attics we inspect contain original fiberglass batts that have been fighting Petaluma Gap humidity for half a century. In this climate, batts compress, darken, and lose their ability to resist heat flow. We remove the old material, address any ventilation or vapor issues, and install new insulation sized to your home’s R-value needs. The moisture pattern here means we pay close attention to how attic air flows, because insulation that traps damp air against roof decking creates problems no R-value can fix. See the full breakdown on our Attic Insulation in Cotati page.
Spray Foam Insulation in Cotati
Spray foam insulation, a two-part liquid that expands on contact and seals gaps airtight, is a strong fit for Cotati’s damp, foggy climate. Because it creates an air seal rather than just a thermal blanket, it helps keep moisture-laden marine air from infiltrating attic and crawl spaces in the first place. That’s a meaningful difference in the Petaluma Gap, where humidity is the primary insulation killer. We work with open-cell and closed-cell foams from Icynene and Demilec, and we’ll recommend the right one for your home’s construction and moisture profile. What Cotati Customers Say
"The guy didn't try to sell me on foaming the whole house. He said the attic was where I'd actually feel it and left it at that. Honest, and he was right, our bills dropped."
- Angela Ruiz"Drafty old house that never felt comfortable. After the attic and some air sealing it's a different place. On time, clean, and the quote didn't change. Wish I'd done it years ago."
- Dmitri Kozlov"Spray foam in the crawlspace and new attic insulation. They wrote up the whole price and the two jobs came in exactly as quoted. Floors upstairs aren't freezing in the morning anymore."
