Franchise FAQ
We’re glad you’re here. Woolsey Attic Insulation is the insulation company of the Kingswell family, and we’re looking for independent owners who want to build something real in their own communities. Below are the questions we hear most often from people considering joining us.
Common Questions
Do I need insulation experience to open a Woolsey location?
No. Most of our owners come from outside the trade. What matters more is that you’ve managed people, handled a P&L, and built trust with customers before. We teach you the insulation side, from batt R-values to spray foam yield calculations. You bring the discipline to run a business and the patience to do it right.
Our best owners tend to be folks who’ve owned a service business, led a sales team, or run operations somewhere where showing up on time and saying what you’ll do actually mattered. The Kingswell Way isn’t complicated, but it does require someone who follows through.
What’s the total investment to open a Woolsey territory?
The total initial investment for a single Woolsey Attic Insulation territory typically ranges from $85,000 to $175,000. That includes the initial franchise fee, equipment, vehicle upfit, initial inventory from our eight partner brands, marketing launch, and working capital to carry you through the first months.
The range depends on whether you’re starting from a home office or leasing light commercial space, and whether you buy a new wrapped van or a quality used one. We’ll walk you through the line-item breakdown once we talk, so you know where every dollar goes before you commit.
Is financing available?
Yes. Many of our owners use SBA-backed lending, equipment financing, or retirement account rollovers to fund all or part of their investment. We can introduce you to third-party lenders who understand the Kingswell model and have worked with our owners before.
We don’t offer direct financing ourselves, and we won’t guarantee you’ll get approved. What we will do is help you assemble a realistic financial picture so you’re talking to lenders with your numbers in order.
How large is a protected territory, and what does exclusivity mean?
A standard Woolsey territory covers a population base of approximately 200,000 to 400,000 people, typically defined by county lines or major metro divisions. You get exclusive rights to market and perform Woolsey Attic Insulation services within that boundary.
We don’t stack locations on top of each other. Your neighbor won’t be another Woolsey owner. That said, we do reserve the right to sell directly to national accounts or multi-location builders if the work originates outside your territory. The details are spelled out in the franchise agreement, which we’ll review together before you sign anything.
How long is the training program?
Initial training runs four weeks. Two weeks are classroom and hands-on at our training facility, covering installation technique, estimating software, the thermal envelope, and The Kingswell Way. Two more weeks are in the field with an operating owner, watching how the written price, the arrival window, and the guarantee actually work on real jobs.
After that, we don’t disappear. You get weekly calls for your first ninety days, then monthly business coaching as long as you’re with us. Training isn’t a one-time event. It’s how we make sure every Woolsey location works to the same standard.
What ongoing fees should I expect?
Woolsey owners pay a monthly royalty based on gross revenue, plus a contribution to the national marketing fund that supports brand materials, digital presence, and lead generation programs. There are no hidden fees for using our software, our pricing tools, or our warranty system.
We don’t charge separately for the 365-Day Done Right Promise, The Kingswell Guarantee, or the background-check program. Those are built into how we operate, not add-ons we nickel-and-dime you for. We’ll give you the full fee schedule in writing during our disclosure process.
How long does it take to open after I sign?
Most owners are operational within 60 to 90 days of signing. The first two to four weeks are securing your van, ordering inventory from brands like Owens Corning and Johns Manville, and getting your local business licenses in order. Weeks four to eight are training. By week eight to twelve, you’re taking your first calls.
The timeline stretches if you’re waiting on SBA funding or if your local permitting moves slowly. We build a schedule together so you know what depends on you, what depends on us, and what depends on the bank.
What support do you provide after I’m open?
You get a dedicated business coach, access to our estimating and scheduling platform, pre-built marketing campaigns, and our national vendor relationships with the eight insulation brands we specify. When a homeowner calls your number, a live person answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through our centralized call center. You don’t have to staff nights and weekends yourself.
We also handle the 365-Day Done Right Promise administration. If a customer calls with a concern, we log it, track it, and make sure it gets resolved. You fix the work; we manage the paperwork and the follow-up.
What does the ideal Woolsey owner look like?
Someone who understands that “insulation” is really “trust.” Our customers have been let down before. The no-show. The price that doubled once the truck was in the driveway. The repair that failed in six weeks. The ideal Woolsey owner is impatient with that kind of sloppiness.
We’re looking for people who will say the price before the work, show up in the window they gave, leave the place cleaner than they found it, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails. The Kingswell Way sounds simple because it is. What’s rare is the commitment to actually do it, every job, every time.
What’s my next step if I want to learn more?
Call us at (325) 240-5411. A real person will answer, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No voicemail maze. We’ll schedule a call with our franchise development team, send you our Franchise Disclosure Document, and if it makes sense for both sides, we’ll invite you to spend a day with an operating owner to see how Woolsey works on the ground.
There’s no fee for that first conversation. We don’t do high-pressure closings. We’re looking for the right fit, not just a signature.
Still Have Questions?
We’re happy to talk through whatever’s on your mind. Call (325) 240-5411 anytime, day or night, and a live person will pick up.
